RFP Overview
XXcelerate is committed to ensuring that clinical research findings are valid and relevant for women. Too often, exposures, interventions, diagnostics and treatments are evaluated without adequate attention to sex-specific biology.
XXcelerate directly addresses this gap by funding existing and/or on-going clinical research that rigorously examines outcomes in women.
Recent randomized clinical trials that were re-analyzed by sex showed disparate outcomes for women compared to the results for the overall study. Without deliberate sex-specific analyses, findings from clinical trials and cohort trials risk being incomplete, misleading or harmful to women.
XXcelerate aims to ensure that clinical research findings are valid and relevant for women through:
- Re-analysis of completed studies including completed randomized clinical trials, cohort studies or other relevant study designs to determine if the outcome is valid for women.
- Support of ongoing studies to rigorously evaluate outcomes, exposures and interventions in women.
Clinical research studies will be powered to evaluate outcomes by sex.
The effectiveness of diagnostics and therapeutics will be rigorously assessed in relation to female biology and conditions unique to women.
Clinical recommendations for women will be grounded in evidence from studies designed and powered to detect sex-specific effects.
