OASIS: Ovarian Secretome and Integrated Health Span
After menopause, women often experience an accelerated decline in health across multiple body systems. Yet once menopause begins, the standard blood markers of ovarian function become undetectable, removing the ability to understand how the aging ovary impacts health. OASIS (Ovarian Secretome and Integrated Health Span) seeks to close that gap. Following 650 women aged 40 to 75 through the menopausal transition, the team will investigate how ovarian aging, through the use of ultrasound imaging, proteomics and metabolomics, drives seven health domains (cognition, sleep, metabolism, body composition, physical function, bone, and cardiovascular health). The goal is to translate these findings into clinical tools that assess risk, enable earlier diagnosis and guide precision-based treatments to optimize women’s health in midlife and beyond.
